Professor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Science

About the role

The University of Johannesburg is seeking a senior academic to join the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment as a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching, supervising research projects, and advancing the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Electrical & Electronic Engineering Science.
• Supervising final‑year projects, honours, master’s and doctoral research.
• Implementing innovative teaching and blended‑learning approaches, including technology‑assisted assessment.
• Conducting and leading research that results in publications in recognised ISI/IBSS‑listed journals.
• Participating in departmental administration, community engagement and industry collaboration.
• Developing national and international research and teaching partnerships.

Required profile

• PhD (NQF level 10) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Master’s (NQF level 9) and Bachelor’s (NQF level 8) degrees in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Strong record of research supervision and scholarly publications.
