Professor / Associate Professor – Public Management & Policy

About the role

The University of Johannesburg seeks experienced academics to join the College of Business & Economics, School of Public Management, Governance & Public Policy. The role involves teaching, research, and community engagement in public administration and related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Public Administration, Public Management, Governance and Public Policy.
• Supervise and assess student work, including dissertations and research projects.
• Coordinate and develop modules, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
• Participate in departmental, college and university committees and official meetings.
• Contribute to research activities, publications and external collaborations.
• Provide examination invigilation and uphold university regulations.
• Cover for colleagues on sabbatical and support new course development.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent qualification in Public Administration, Public Policy, Governance or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly research and publications.
• Experience teaching at the university level, both in‑person and online.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with students, staff and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to the university’s mission of societal impact and sustainability.
