Professional Nurse – Surgical Ward

About the role
The Professional Nurse will work on a surgical ward delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care. Working closely with a multi‑professional team, the nurse will lead and coordinate care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
- Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
- Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
- Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
- Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
- Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.
Required profile
- Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing.
- No minimum experience required.
- Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or specialised nursing diplomas are desirable.
Required skills
- Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
- Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
- Proficiency in nursing processes, record keeping, patient assessment, pharmacology, relevant legislation, risk identification, and scientific nursing principles.
