Professional Nurse – Orthopaedic

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its Orthopaedic team. Working alongside a multi‑professional group, you will deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care and help create a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (desired).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units (desired).
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training – ACLS, ATLS, PALS.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment and pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
