Professional Nurse – Medical (Permanent)

About the role

Mediclinic Southern Africa is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care. The role involves collaborating with a multi‑professional team to ensure optimal patient outcomes across its network of private hospitals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote staff competence through a learning environment.
• Ensure accurate charting of stock and equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or specialised nursing diplomas (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units.
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control knowledge.
• Proficiency in nursing processes, procedures, and record keeping.
• Strong patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification and scientific nursing principles.
