About the role

The Professional Nurse – Medical joins a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, comprehensive, and high-quality nursing care in line with scope-of-practice regulations. Working within Mediclinic’s international private healthcare network, the role focuses on patient safety, accurate documentation, and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure accurate charting of all utilised stock and equipment.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or Postgraduate Diploma in a specialist area (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units.
• No minimum professional experience required.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards).
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
• Application of scientific nursing principles.
