Professional Nurse – Medical

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team and deliver safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care. The role involves collaborating with doctors, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (desired).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units (desired).
• Essential minimum experience: none.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) for specialised wards.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification.
• Application of scientific nursing principles.
