Professional Nurse – General Medical Practice

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse to join our newly established general medical practice in Montagu. You will work closely with doctors to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred primary healthcare to the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians during consultations, procedures and emergencies.
• Prepare consultation rooms, ensure sterility of instruments and manage equipment.
• Welcome patients, take medical histories and record vital signs.
• Administer injections, IV therapy and other prescribed treatments.
• Collect and label blood and clinical specimens; perform point‑of‑care tests such as urine, glucose and ECG.
• Conduct health assessments, wound care, chronic disease management and infant wellness checks.
• Educate patients on medication use and post‑treatment care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and support stock control.
• Provide front‑desk support, phone triage, scheduling and coordination of referrals.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing degree or diploma.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Experience in primary healthcare or a medical practice is advantageous.
• Strong clinical skills, attention to detail and excellent interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport are a plus.

Required skills

• Familiarity with medical software such as Elle Health.
• Experience using Practice Perfect practice management system.
