Professional Nurse – Emergency Centre

About the role

To deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care in the Emergency Centre of Mediclinic Bloemfontein, working within the Scope of Practice and collaborating with a multi‑professional team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• One year of post‑graduate qualification experience in a specialised unit (desired).

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Risk identification.
