Professional Nurse – Emergency Centre

About the role

The Professional Nurse in the Emergency Centre works within a multi‑professional team to deliver safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care in line with scope‑of‑practice regulations. The role involves leading and coordinating nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast‑paced emergency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery (desired).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units (desired).
• No minimum experience required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Developing and modifying nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
