Procurement Manager - Livestock & Agribusiness

About the role

The company is a leading player in South Africa's red meat value chain, looking for a strategic Procurement Manager to lead livestock sourcing and abattoir scheduling. Based in Cullinan, the role bridges commercial agribusiness strategy with field operations, reporting to the Livestock Director.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement livestock procurement strategies and goal‑setting frameworks for field teams.
• Expand and maintain producer relationships across key regions, including Free Range, Calendar farmers, and specialised weaner programs.
• Coordinate weekly slaughter and logistics schedules to maximise plant utilisation and remove bottlenecks.
• Manage live‑weight and carcass purchase price strategies to protect margins.
• Collaborate with feed manufacturers, veterinary companies and other external stakeholders to support supply‑chain objectives.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Management or Animal Science.
• 5‑7 years operational experience in meat processing, abattoir or livestock industry.
• 5‑10 years in agricultural management or leadership roles.
• 5‑7 years proven experience in commercial procurement, agricultural buying or supply‑chain coordination.
