Procurement Manager

About the role

The Procurement Manager will report to the Manager of Finance and Administration and support the operations team by overseeing procurement and contract administration. This role ensures compliance with company policies, mining regulations and South African legislation while driving cost‑effective sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Manage end‑to‑end procurement: sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
• Ensure compliance with BBBEE, MFMA and other relevant regulations.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to guarantee quality, cost‑effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Oversee inventory management in collaboration with warehouse and operations teams.
• Lead and develop the procurement team, set KPIs and promote continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with finance and legal for budgeting, payments and contract administration.
• Monitor market trends, risks and opportunities to optimise spend.
• Prepare regular procurement reports and dashboards for senior management.
• Drive sustainable procurement practices and local supplier development initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering/Construction or Mining.
• 7+ years of procurement or supply‑chain experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience in the mining sector or heavy industry is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of South African procurement laws, BBBEE regulations and the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work extended hours and interact within a multi‑disciplined team.
