Procurement Lead

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Procurement Lead to drive inbound procurement, strategic sourcing and commodity trading for feed additives and related products across South Africa and the wider SADC region. The role combines procurement, pricing, trading and people leadership to ensure a reliable supply of imported raw materials.

Key responsibilities

• Lead inbound procurement of feed additives, young animal feeds, amino acids and other imported products.
• Manage international supplier relationships and negotiate contracts.
• Monitor commodity markets, foreign‑exchange trends and trading opportunities to inform purchasing decisions.
• Identify profitability improvements through strategic sourcing and commodity trading initiatives.
• Collaborate with supply chain, demand planning, pricing, manufacturing, sales and global sourcing teams.
• Secure competitive pricing, manage procurement risks and support pricing decisions with market intelligence.
• Lead and develop a small procurement team and oversee local procurement activities.
• Ensure accurate procurement planning, inventory management and supplier performance tracking.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, commodity trading or supply‑chain management.
• Proven experience managing international sourcing and supplier negotiations.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to build cross‑functional relationships.
• Leadership or coaching experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of commodity markets, Incoterms, foreign‑exchange and trading principles.
• Risk‑management expertise.
• Experience with ERP systems (M3 preferred).
