Principal Engineer, Mobile Equipment

About the role

Exxaro Resources is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Mobile Equipment function in Centurion. You will provide expert technical support, manage equipment assets throughout their lifecycle, and drive best‑practice implementation across mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage mobile equipment assets and ensure optimal performance throughout their lifecycle.
• Develop and enforce functional policies and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with equipment design and operation.
• Lead the design, optimisation and continuous improvement of mining equipment.
• Provide operational support for life‑of‑mine studies and strategic financial management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed continuous improvement and innovation.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in mobile or mining equipment engineering.
• Strong understanding of asset management, regulatory compliance and risk management.
• Ability to develop and implement functional policies and best‑practice standards.
• Experience supporting life‑of‑mine studies and aligning technical decisions with financial goals.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a diverse, forward‑thinking environment.
