POS Specialist – Retail Cashier at Mall of Africa

About the role

We are looking for a POS Specialist to manage all customer transactions at the Mall of Africa store. The role involves operating the cash register, processing payments, issuing receipts and ensuring a smooth checkout experience that maximises customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the POS system and cash registers to scan items, verify pricing and collect cash or card payments.
• Issue receipts, refunds, change, tickets and process coupons, vouchers and gift‑wrapping requests.
• Handle merchandise returns, exchanges and bag packages efficiently.
• Cross‑sell products, promote add‑ons and introduce new items to increase unit per transaction.
• Resolve customer enquiries and complaints, provide information and maintain a friendly greeting.
• Maintain a clean and tidy checkout area and ensure all till documents are signed and filed.
• Track daily transactions on balance sheets, report discrepancies and use the digital dashboard for performance monitoring.
• Support store replenishment and general housekeeping tasks.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years experience as a retail cashier or similar sales role.
• Matric certificate or equivalent.
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail and customer‑service orientation.
• Effective communication and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Basic PC knowledge.
• Familiarity with electronic equipment such as cash registers and POS systems.
