PMO Manager – 4‑Month Contract (Johannesburg)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced PMO Manager to provide maternity cover for a leading telecommunications company in Johannesburg. The role is a 4‑month rolling contract with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Support the executive project manager in project performance, process specification and operational support.
• Define and manage the project’s organisational structure, responsibilities, processes and regulations.
• Oversee project‑dedicated HR activities, including selection, appointment, review and displacement of staff.
• Manage all project personnel – local, leased, subsidiary and callers – covering attendance, itineraries, cohesion building and performance appraisal.
• Control project operation performance, key tasks, risk compliance, information security and brand promotion.
• Establish and maintain the working and living environment (offices, dormitories, vehicles, IT systems, assets, visas).
• Direct overall logistics, outsourcing, procurement, finance, IT, administration, documentation and training for the project.
• Develop and enforce project‑management regulations such as code of conduct, communication, appraisal and reward‑punishment mechanisms.
• Assist in budgeting, cost control and monitoring of delivery, revenue, receivables and cost indicators.
• Coordinate resources to resolve delayed tasks and produce regular project status reports.
• Lead team cohesion initiatives and brand publicity activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a PMO Manager or in senior project‑office roles.
• Experience working within the telecommunications sector is preferred.
• Strong ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex project environments.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
