Plant Manager (Engineering Manufacturing)

About the role

We are a well‑established South African manufacturer seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our engineering‑focused manufacturing facility through a period of growth and operational expansion. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will own the plant’s performance, quality, and delivery outcomes while building high‑performing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all day‑to‑day manufacturing operations, including assembly, injection moulding, maintenance, stores and dispatch.
• Drive production output, efficiency and on‑time delivery against targets.
• Build accountability and performance within supervisory teams.
• Champion continuous‑improvement initiatives across the plant.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and operational procedures.
• Oversee production planning, reporting and KPI management.
• Develop technical capability, succession planning and operational leadership within the factory.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BEng, BSc or BTech) in Mechanical, Industrial, Polymer or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of manufacturing experience, including several years managing a plant or major production facility.
• Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
• Proven leadership in plastics, injection moulding, assembly or light‑engineering environments.
• Demonstrated success improving production performance, quality and operational efficiencies.
• People‑management and labour‑relations experience.
• Data‑driven with excellent planning, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
