Pharmacist – Night Shift

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Pharmacist to work the night shift in our wholesale pharmacy operation. The role is critical to ensure compliance with South African pharmacy legislation and to maintain safe, effective storage and distribution of medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide continuous pharmacist supervision during night‑time operating hours.
• Ensure compliance with the Medicines and Related Substances Act (Act 101 of 1965) and the Pharmacy Act (Act No 53 of 1974).
• Manage initial and ongoing training programmes for all distribution personnel, including Good Distribution Practice (GDP) training.
• Verify that all staff are registered with the South African Pharmacy Council and operate within the scope of a pharmacist.
• Implement corrective actions for any inspection deficiencies and maintain a change‑control programme under the Responsible Pharmacist’s guidance.
• Monitor warehouse temperature continuously and guarantee proper storage conditions for medicines and scheduled substances.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase, ordering, picking, batch numbers, dispatch, possession, storage and returns.
• Investigate product complaints, follow standard operating procedures, and coordinate product recalls with principals and regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Experience in wholesale pharmacy or similar distribution environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African pharmacy legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to supervise night‑shift operations and manage training programmes.
