About the role
Dis-Chem is building a talent pipeline for Post‑Basic Qualify (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistants in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. You will support the delivery of pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients receive the right medicines and information in a retail pharmacy environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1‑5 medicines and related substances.
- Prepare, compound, and re‑package non‑sterile medicines according to standard operating procedures.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and distribution of medicines up to Schedule 6.
- Interpret prescriptions, verify patient details, and ensure accurate labeling and packaging.
- Provide clear instructions to patients on medication use and advise on drug interactions.
- Maintain compliance with SAPC regulations and keep up‑to‑date with medical aid claim procedures.
Required profile
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Experience working in a pharmacy setting.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong command of English and a second language.
- Willingness to work retail hours.
