Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic Qualified) – Glen Acres

About the role

Dis‑Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacy Assistant for its Glen Acres store in Kempton Park. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, dispensing medications, providing advice and supporting the pharmacy’s daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescription medicines, ensuring accuracy in picking, packing, labeling and verification.
• Assist with compounding, manipulation and preparation of sterile and non‑sterile medicines.
• Manage stock control, ordering, and re‑packaging of Schedule 1‑5 medicines.
• Provide customer service at the dispensary, self‑medication counter and front‑shop, including health‑aid cost explanations.
• Process medical‑scheme claims, correct rejected scripts and maintain patient profiles.
• Conduct bi‑annual stock takes and support cash and asset control.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Post‑Basic Pharmacy Assistant qualification registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Willingness to work retail hours.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long periods and hold a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Unisolv SAP.
• Experience with E‑Scripting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic numerical skills.
