PDS Technician – Mining Electronics (Barberton, Mpumalanga)

About the role

We are looking for a PDS Technician to provide technical services for electronic equipment used in the mining sector at our Barberton site. The role involves installation, maintenance, and support of hardware and software systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, certify and provide technical support for electronic products and systems on the mine.
• Set up and test units to meet specified requirements and perform quality checks in line with company policy.
• Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions or escalate as needed.
• Maintain electronic equipment and software, record maintenance activities and report further requirements.
• Assist with new projects, operate hand and power tools, and ensure site housekeeping.
• Liaise with other technical staff and customers to meet contractual obligations and safety standards.
• Provide regular feedback to supervisors and support senior technicians.
• Prepare required documentation, reports and customer correspondence.

Required profile

• National Diploma (N5) in Electrical/Electronics.
• At least 4 years of experience in electronics (hardware and software) and IT (hardware, networks, software).
• Knowledge of the company’s Advantage product line.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
