Payroll Administrator

About the role

Our client, a well‑established wholesale and retail company, is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join their Sandton office. The role focuses on accurate, timely payroll processing while ensuring full compliance with South African payroll legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll accurately and meet strict deadlines.
• Maintain and update employee payroll records.
• Handle new appointments, terminations, salary adjustments, promotions and other payroll changes.
• Calculate overtime, leave, bonuses, commissions and statutory deductions.
• Process PAYE, UIF, SDL and other statutory contributions.
• Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and support year‑end audits.
• Resolve payroll queries and liaise with HR and Finance departments.
• Ensure confidentiality of all employee information.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience as a Payroll Administrator.
• Hands‑on experience with Sage 300 Payroll (non‑negotiable).
• Previous experience in the wholesale or retail sector.
• Strong knowledge of BCEA and South African payroll legislation.
• Matric (Grade 12) qualification; relevant payroll, HR or finance certification is a plus.
• Reliable personal transport.
