Payroll Administrator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our Shared Services team in Johannesburg East. The role focuses on processing high‑volume payrolls accurately, ensuring compliance with South African legislation and delivering timely payments to employees.

Key responsibilities

• Process and administer high‑volume payrolls within strict deadlines.
• Review payroll inputs, leave transactions and variances before final run.
• Validate resignations, dismissals and final salary payments.
• Prepare month‑end reconciliations and payroll reports.
• Reconcile payroll data with third‑party vendors and resolve discrepancies.
• Distribute payslips and payroll reports to stakeholders.
• Support Payroll Clerks and business units on payroll processes.
• Test system updates, legislative changes and new cost components.
• Investigate and resolve payroll queries within agreed service levels.
• Liaise with internal ICT teams and external service providers to ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation (BCEA, PAYE, UIF, SDL).
• Matric or finance qualification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with JDE and Educos payroll systems (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
