Payroll Accountant

About the role

The Payroll Accountant will manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for all staff, ensuring accurate and timely payments while complying with tax regulations and company policies. This role collaborates closely with HR and Finance to maintain precise employee records and support audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll for salaried, hourly and contract employees.
• Verify and reconcile timesheets, attendance and pay adjustments.
• Calculate and remit payroll taxes, benefits deductions and other withholdings.
• Prepare and post payroll journal entries and reconcile related general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accurate payroll files and respond to employee inquiries.
• Coordinate with HR and Finance to resolve data discrepancies.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and payroll best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in payroll accounting or administration.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax compliance and accounting principles.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with payroll software such as Payspace, VIP or SAP.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using accounting systems.
