Patient Services Manager

About the role

The Patient Services Manager will lead patient services operations across Life Entabeni Hospital and its associated units, reporting to the Finance and Administration Managers. The role focuses on quality management, people leadership, billing accuracy and compliance with funder rules to optimise hospital profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and improve quality metrics, ensure data integrity and maintain stakeholder relationships including doctors and allied health professionals.
• Lead people management by recruiting, training, performance management and fostering a diverse, motivated workforce.
• Drive accurate and timely billing, oversee bill auditing, and ensure compliance with clinical coding standards (ICD/CPT).
• Manage admissions and collections to comply with funder rules and reduce outstanding co‑payments.
• Implement cash‑flow processes from pre‑admission to account submission to meet DSO targets.
• Prepare audit documentation, participate in risk‑management actions and uphold governance standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in a health‑related field (e.g., Nursing, Physiotherapy) or a BCom with relevant experience in patient services or revenue‑cycle management.
• Minimum five years of private‑healthcare experience with proven leadership, change and people‑management capabilities.
• Current registration with the relevant professional body where applicable (e.g., SANC).
• Understanding of private‑healthcare legislation, medical terminology and basic financial principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding.
• Financial budgeting and credit‑management skills.
• Computer literacy and ability to use healthcare information systems.
