Occupational Therapy Technician (2 positions)

About the role

The Occupational Therapy Technician will work at Siyathuthuka Care Centre under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. The role focuses on rehabilitating chronic mental health care users and supporting quality care delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitation services to mental health care users (MHCUs) in line with quality standards.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records.
• Utilise resources efficiently and ensure equipment is well maintained.
• Educate MHCUs and their families on health promotion and disability awareness.
• Participate in health‑promotion campaigns, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Compile monthly statistics, report incidents and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (NSC) with an Occupational Therapy Technician Certificate.
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Experience in psychiatric settings is an advantage.
• Understanding of mental health conditions and their impact on daily functioning.

Required skills

• Group facilitation – ability to run therapeutic groups effectively.
