Occupational Healthcare Nurse

About the role

Our client in Cape Town is looking for a qualified Occupational Healthcare Nurse to lead the primary and occupational health clinic. The role involves delivering primary care, managing chronic disease programmes and handling pre‑employment, exit and annual medical examinations, as well as responding to emergency situations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily administrative and operational activities of the primary health care and occupational health clinic.
• Conduct and review health risk assessments and perform medical and biological surveillance according to company protocols.
• Manage the chronic disease programme and ensure compliance with statutory and internal procedures.
• Maintain accurate records, both electronic and hard copy, and compile regular clinic management reports.
• Supervise the maintenance of clinic equipment and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Plan and administer the Occupational Health Service, including pre‑employment, exit and annual medicals.

Required profile

• Nursing Diploma or Degree with an Occupational Health Nurse qualification recognised by the South African Nursing Council.
• Primary Health Care (PHC) qualification or relevant experience.
• Valid registration with SANC/SASOHN and a dispensing licence.
• HIV/AIDS certification and knowledge of driver’s medical examinations.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.

Required skills

• Spirometry, audiometry and visual screening (certified qualification required).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
