Occupational Health Nurse

About the role

We are seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to deliver comprehensive workplace health services at our Estcourt manufacturing site. The role ensures compliance with South African occupational health legislation while promoting employee well‑being and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct baseline, periodic and exit medical examinations and support the on‑site doctor during weekly clinics.
• Report and manage work‑related injuries and occupational diseases to the compensation commissioner, maintaining accurate medical records.
• Monitor work processes, evaluate occupational hygiene surveys and recommend health control measures.
• Ensure first‑aid and emergency preparedness procedures are in place and complied with.
• Maintain supply of medical equipment, medication and oversee the database of employee health records.
• Provide primary health care, treat minor ailments, manage chronic conditions and coordinate return‑to‑work cases.
• Lead health promotion initiatives, delivering awareness and education programmes.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nursing plus Occupational Health Nursing qualification.
• 3‑5 years experience in occupational nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council and a valid dispensing licence.
• Knowledge of South African occupational health legislation, POPIA confidentiality requirements and occupational hygiene exposure routes.
