Nurse Educator

About the role

The Nurse Educator will deliver higher‑education and training programmes as well as staff‑development initiatives for Mediclinic students and employees. The role blends classroom teaching with clinical facilitation to ensure theoretical knowledge is applied effectively in a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Higher Education and Training (HET) requirements, American Heart Association (AHA) standards and other regulatory frameworks.
• Design, develop and assess learning materials and interventions to achieve targeted learning outcomes.
• Facilitate both theoretical instruction and clinical practice, promoting integration of knowledge and skills.
• Coordinate and administer student‑related processes, including enrolment, assessment and progression.

Required profile

• Qualified General Nurse or Professional Nurse with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education or Health Sciences Education (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital environment and at least 1 year in education, training, clinical facilitation or staff development.

Required skills

• Instructional Design using the ADDIE model.
• Knowledge of Nursing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Use of group facilitation tools and techniques.
• Application of Bloom’s taxonomy and adult learning principles.
• Mentoring, coaching and assessment/moderation expertise.
