NCA Specialist – Hybrid (Pinelands/Cape Town)

About the role

The NCA Specialist is a senior in‑house legal expert responsible for interpreting the National Credit Act (NCA) and related regulations across the Confluent Group’s credit operations. Working hybrid from Pinelands/Cape Town, the role provides commercial‑focused legal guidance, strengthens compliance capability, and partners with senior leadership to embed regulatory confidence into everyday decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide authoritative interpretation of the NCA, regulations, case law and regulator guidance, translating them into clear business advice.
• Serve as the primary NCA subject‑matter expert for Exco, Legal, Risk, Product, Operations and business units.
• Draft, review and maintain legal opinions, position papers and internal guidance notes.
• Lead the Group’s NCA compliance framework, develop policies, procedures and controls, and conduct risk assessments.
• Manage all interactions with the National Credit Regulator, including submissions, audits and investigations.
• Design and oversee compliance monitoring programmes, identify systemic issues and drive remediation.
• Develop and deliver structured NCA training for business leaders and staff.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of the South African National Credit Act and related regulatory landscape.
• Proven experience advising senior executives on complex credit‑related legal matters.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate legal requirements into practical business solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting legal opinions and policy documents.
• Demonstrated ability to lead compliance frameworks, conduct risk assessments and manage regulator relationships.
