National Technical Manager – Generators & Mobile Cranes

About the role

BA Personnel is seeking a National Technical Manager to lead the technical function for generators and mobile cranes across South Africa. The role combines maintenance oversight, project management, sales leadership, and customer support to ensure optimal performance of all assets.

Key responsibilities

• Set and monitor annual trade and maintenance budgets, ensuring expenses stay within forecast.
• Train staff on new technologies and oversee special projects as directed.
• Liaise with OEMs and procurement to secure quality products and services at optimal pricing.
• Manage warranty claims, register new manufactured generators, and drive national sales revenue and margin targets.
• Provide accurate budgeting, forecasting, and visitation reports to senior management.
• Present new products and services to existing and potential customers, and support site surveys.
• Assist financial management by recovering outstanding debtors and monitoring market trends.
• Develop, maintain, and support the technical team while fostering strong internal and external relationships.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent; trade qualification in diesel/mechanical engineering.
• BCom Business Management is advantageous.
• 5–8 years of experience in a technical management role with strong expertise in mobile cranes.
