Key responsibilities
- Lead high-value consulting engineering engagements that go beyond transactional surveys to risk-informed, strategic solutions, and turn technical findings into commercial recommendations.
- Drive adoption of PRC and other Risk Consulting services among broking mining clients, and create market visibility through presentations, industry forums, technical papers and client workshops.
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and early-career consultants, set objectives for revenue, NOI and utilisation, and build scalable ways of working.
- Work with the Mining Industry Leader, client service and broking teams, and act as the primary technical escalation point for complex client issues.
- Represent Marsh at mining conferences and forums, publish thought leadership, and build relationships with insurers, reinsurers and industry associations.
- Own revenue and NOI targets, manage project delivery and margins, and maintain rigorous risk management and quality assurance on technical outputs.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline (required).
- At least 10 years' professional experience in mining engineering, with significant time in operational or technical roles.
- Proven track record in consulting, technical project delivery or operational leadership on large-scale mining operations.

- Experience in insurance, risk management, PRC-style surveys or working with brokers/insurers is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience leading teams, coaching juniors and delivering commercial results.
Required skills
- Deep technical expertise in mine engineering, risk assessment, site survey execution and technical reporting.
- Ability to build scopes, price consulting work and manage margins.
- Consultative selling, negotiation and relationship management.
- Ability to develop and implement technical standards, templates and best-practice processes.
Travel across South Africa and occasional international travel is required, with periodic extended site visits and fieldwork in operational mining environments. Marsh offers professional development, a vibrant and inclusive culture, and benefits and rewards.
