Merchandise Planner – Cape Town

About the role

A reputable leading Fashion Retailer has an opportunity for a resilient Senior Planner who can think laterally and who has strong analytical, logical reasoning and numerical abilities. The ideal candidate needs to be self‑motivated and involved in overseeing the end‑to‑end process in the applicable area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve turnover, gross profit budgets, stock budgets and related KPIs.
• Deliver and implement post‑seasonal analysis, strategic planning, range & assortment planning.
• Accurately and continuously budgeting and forecasting to achieve sales plan and maximize profitability.
• Accurately and continuously forecasting inflows to achieve sales plans, departmental growth and profitability.
• Execute and manage project plans to achieve agreed objectives where applicable.
• Support and guide team members with efficient administration and accurate stock allocation to ensure the right stock reaches the right store on time.
• Liaise with stores, suppliers, customers, shipping and marketing teams.

Required profile

• Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a Numerical Degree.
• 3–5 years experience as a Retail/Merchandise/Product Planner within a retail environment.
• Strong numerical, analytical thinking and logical problem‑solving skills.
• Strong merchant, trader and commercial mentality.
• Ability to work independently, self‑lead and use initiative.
• Deadline and outcomes focused.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with merchandise planning and reporting systems.
