Member – Municipal Disciplinary Board (3-year term)

About the role

The Mantsopa Municipal Council seeks a qualified individual to serve as a member of its Municipal Disciplinary Board for a fixed three‑year term. The board investigates allegations of financial misconduct and provides recommendations to the Council.

Key responsibilities

• Develop terms of reference and ensure investigative powers rest with the Board.
• Assist the Council in investigating financial misconduct allegations.
• Conduct preliminary investigations to assess the merit of allegations.
• Carry out full investigations where warranted and prepare detailed reports for the Council.
• Recommend further disciplinary actions and monitor any proceedings.

Required profile

• Natural person, South African citizen or permanent resident residing in the municipality’s province.
• Not disqualified under regulation 4(5) (e.g., no prior convictions for fraud, no current municipal accounting officer role).
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in forensic auditing, risk management or performance management (advantage).
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), MBL, CIA, Advocate or Attorney (advantage).
• Experience in financial and ethical misconduct investigations and prior service on municipal disciplinary boards.
• Demonstrated leadership, personal integrity and ability to communicate effectively.
