Medical Practice Manager – Somerset West

About the role

A well‑established specialist medical practice in Somerset West, Cape Town is looking for an experienced Practice Manager to lead daily operations. You will work with a large administrative team supporting multiple specialists across private and day hospitals, driving growth and digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operational management of the practice.
• Lead, manage and support administrative, reception and billing teams.
• Ensure efficient specialist billing, debtor processes and financial administration.
• Monitor and improve administrative workflows and operational efficiency.
• Assist with implementation of digital systems and continuous process improvements.
• Liaise with specialists, hospitals, surgeons and other healthcare stakeholders.
• Manage human resources, staff performance, recruitment and general practice administration.
• Prepare management reports and monitor operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with practice policies, healthcare regulations and industry standards.
• Manage supplier relationships, contracts and operational resources.
• Support strategic planning and practice growth initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Practice Manager within a private specialist medical practice.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of specialist medical billing, medical aid processes and debtor administration.
• Sound understanding of human‑resources practices.
• Financial acumen; accounting or finance background is advantageous.
• Experience managing large administrative teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Professional, ethical and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
