Medical Practice Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

A specialist medical practice in Linksfield, Johannesburg is looking for an experienced Medical Practice Manager to lead operational, administrative and patient‑coordination functions. Working closely with the doctor, clinical team and billing department, the manager will ensure smooth daily operations and a high‑quality patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the consulting diary, procedure and theatre schedules, and coordinate new consultations, follow‑ups and urgent referrals.
• Handle appointment confirmations, cancellations, rescheduling and communicate pre‑procedure instructions.
• Register patients, maintain electronic patient records, upload referrals and clinical documentation.
• Coordinate consent forms, admissions, discharges and post‑procedure follow‑up appointments.
• Obtain medical‑aid authorisations and support clinical motivations.
• Liaise with hospitals, referring doctors, laboratories, radiology, anaesthetists and other stakeholders.
• Serve as first point of contact for patient queries, complaints and feedback.
• Oversee practice supplies, stationery and consumables, and maintain digital filing systems.
• Support practice meetings, workflow improvement initiatives and implement efficient operational processes.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Practice Manager, Senior Medical Administrator or similar role in a specialist private practice.
• Experience in a procedural or surgical environment is advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage medical‑aid authorisations and patient administration.
