Mechanical Supervisor

About the role

The Mechanical Supervisor will lead all mechanical construction and maintenance activities on site, focusing on Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM), heavy lifting equipment, cranes, rigging operations and mechanical plant. The role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications, statutory requirements and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical construction, maintenance and rigging activities for TMM, cranes and heavy lifting equipment.
• Assess and execute specialised rigging operations, review complex lift plans and ensure compliance with load dynamics and SWL standards.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans for TMM and other mechanical assets, conduct legal pre‑use inspections and oversee fleet upkeep.
• Maintain accurate safety and maintenance records, issue and control permits, and coordinate with subcontractors and site stakeholders.
• Work overtime as required and operate in challenging industrial conditions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a valid Trade Test (Diesel Mechanic, Fitter or Millwright).
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (N3‑N6) or equivalent.
• Advanced rigging training and safety training for supervisors.
• Code 8 (EB) driver licence.
• 10+ years documented experience in heavy industry or mining, including 5 years with TMM.
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience and working‑at‑heights training.
