Mechanical Engineer – Water & Wastewater Treatment

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Design Office in Pretoria, supporting the development of water and wastewater treatment equipment. The role involves mechanical design, product development, and technical problem solving within a dynamic engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical equipment, components and systems according to project and operational requirements.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials.
• Support product development, research and innovation initiatives, including prototype development and testing.
• Collaborate with production, procurement and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, installation and commissioning.
• Investigate and resolve design‑related problems while ensuring compliance with company standards and ISO requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives and technical meetings.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and project records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal forming and experience in water treatment or industrial manufacturing is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication processes and materials.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
