Mechanical Engineer – Roodepoort

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, maintain and improve mechanical systems and equipment that support our operational and manufacturing goals. The role involves ensuring solutions are safe, efficient, cost‑effective and compliant with technical standards while working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, prepare drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Conduct feasibility studies, engineering analyses and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Support projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating timelines, budgets and resources.
• Lead preventative and corrective maintenance activities, investigate failures and drive reliability improvements.
• Provide technical support to production, operations and maintenance teams, assisting with process optimisation and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a Trade Test in Fitter/Turner/Millwright.
• More than 5 years post‑qualification experience working with centrifugal multistage pumps.
• Experience with refurbishment and installation of centrifugal multistage pumps and related spares/materials suppliers.
• Familiarity with Transnet crude oil pipeline, Natref or Sapref environments is preferred.
