Mechanical Engineer – Mid-level (Design & Project Management)

About the role

Global Riser is seeking a mid‑level Mechanical Engineer who is enthusiastic, efficient and committed. The role combines engineering theory, design, project management and manufacturing experience to support the development and maintenance of capital drilling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee multiple projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Conduct in‑house design and development, including strength calculations, FEA/simulation, 3D CAD modelling and creation of manufacturing data packs (BOMs, work instructions, manuals).
• Manage design projects from inception through delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry codes.
• Provide expert technical advice to technicians and coach new staff.
• Monitor compliance with applicable codes, QC policies and safety practices.
• Prepare detailed reports, review inspection results and communicate progress to management and customers.
• Review engineering deliverables, initiate corrective actions and draft new procedures as needed.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent written communication in English.
• Strong understanding of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or Abaqus).
• Familiarity with engineering calculation software such as Mathcad or MATLAB.
• Exposure to ASME VIII, API and class rules (ABS, DNV) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of fabrication, boiler making/welding and precision machining.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time‑management abilities.
