Mechanical Engineer – Building Services (Fire Design)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer with fire‑design expertise to join our dynamic building services team in Cape Town. The role involves delivering HVAC, wet services, and fire engineering solutions across large‑scale projects from concept to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing mechanical building services throughout all project stages, from conceptual design to handover.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with South African (SANS) codes and Rational Design principles.
• Prepare detailed specifications, bills of quantities, and technical reports for mechanical scopes.
• Support project execution, site inspections, and on‑site coordination as required.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering (essential); Master’s in Fire Engineering (highly recommended).
• 2‑5+ years of experience in the building services industry, with solid knowledge of HVAC, wet services, and fire‑suppression design.
• RSA citizenship, fluent in English and able to understand Afrikaans for client meetings.
• Willingness to reside in or relocate to Cape Town’s northern suburbs and work on construction sites.
• Medical fitness for site work and ability to travel as project demands.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential).
• Experience with Revit (highly recommended).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, wet services, and fire‑suppression design.
• Familiarity with SANS codes and Rational Design methodology.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office suite.
