Marketing & Communications Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract based in Durban. Reporting to the Group COO, you will lead the integrated marketing strategy across PR, communications, digital, events and stakeholder relations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Group’s marketing, communications and digital strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Lead media relations, draft press releases, manage corporate announcements and track media coverage.
• Provide strategic input at MANCO level, prepare reports for MANCO and EXCO, and ensure brand consistency and governance.
• Manage specialist agencies for media buying, website development, creative services and crisis communications.
• Oversee unit managers across Marketing & PR, Communications, Digital, Events Management and Stakeholder Relations.
• Develop internal communications strategy to keep staff informed and engaged.
• Conceptualise, plan and execute integrated campaigns that generate measurable leads and support policy book growth.
• Develop and manage the annual events calendar and produce strategic documents, media kits and campaign briefs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric and a university degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in marketing or communications, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
• Proven track record in media relations, press office management and corporate communications.
• Experience leading large, diverse teams; experience in the insurance or burials industry is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence.
