Manager Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Manager Quantity Surveyor will oversee all cost aspects of infrastructure, building, specialised and civil engineering projects within the Development Planning and Infrastructure division. The role ensures value for money, compliance with statutory regulations, and alignment with the strategic objectives of the Dube TradePort.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic input to support the Dube TradePort and DPI strategy, track performance targets and report on public sector investment and SMME expenditure.
• Perform estimating, cost planning, cost checks, valuations, and manage post‑contract cost variances and change orders.
• Negotiate, verify and review contract variations, assess valuations, and arrange payments.
• Prepare, monitor and review projected cash flows and forecast final costs to completion.
• Develop and review procurement and contract documentation, analyse tender costings and produce QS procurement reports.
• Conduct risk, value management and cost control throughout project lifecycles, identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
• Engage with stakeholders, compile business cases, support feasibility studies and coordinate with contracts and finance teams.
• Produce reports on project cost expenditure, progress status and assist in developing cost‑management tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost management for construction or civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of building contracts, procurement processes and tender evaluation.
• Ability to analyse financial data, forecast cash flows and manage project budgets.
• Experience in risk assessment, value management and handling contractual claims.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to produce clear cost reports.
