Manager – Commercial Underwriting Administration

About the role

The Manager – Commercial Underwriting Administration will lead the policy underwriting administration function for the Construction and Engineering business area. Based in Wanderers Office Park, Sandton, the role focuses on new business, endorsements, finance queries and broker liaison while ensuring the team meets targets and SOP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Convert quotes into policies and manage endorsements.
• Provide terms on existing policies and support business retention.
• Liaise with brokers, internal departments and handle finance queries.
• Oversee incoming and outgoing mail and ensure deadlines are met.
• Monitor and drive team performance against targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of insurance experience in underwriting.
• Preferably 10 years of short‑term engineering insurance experience.
• Previous experience managing an underwriting team.
• Experience with quoting and approval processes.
• First Level Regulatory Examination, relevant degree/diploma and FAIS compliance.
