Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Maintenance Technician will ensure the efficient operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of production machinery in a high‑volume plastic manufacturing environment. The role involves both preventative and breakdown maintenance while supporting production through effective fault finding and equipment optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and planned maintenance on all production equipment.
• Carry out breakdown maintenance and fault finding to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment and automated machinery.
• Maintain robots and automated production systems.
• Install, commission and optimise manufacturing equipment.
• Monitor machine performance, cycle times and efficiency.
• Perform routine inspections of machinery and equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Ensure machinery complies with health and safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and productivity.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering and Management teams.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Trade Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering.
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on automated production machinery.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Strong PLC fault‑finding experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programmes.
• Electrical troubleshooting.
• Mechanical troubleshooting.
• Computer literacy with good IT skills.
