About the role
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician specialising in control, instrumentation, PLCs and electrical systems. The role involves ensuring laboratory and production equipment operates safely and reliably, providing standby cover and supporting engineering projects.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine checks, preventive maintenance and calibration of critical measuring and control instruments.
- Diagnose and repair faults on PLC and SCADA systems (Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix, FactoryTalk View SE/ME) and electrical installations.
- Participate in the standby roster, responding to after‑hours breakdowns and supporting start‑ups.
- Execute planned maintenance, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and complete GMP‑compliant documentation in SAP PM.
- Support commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and capital projects within the instrumentation and electrical scope.
- Provide first‑line technical support and training to operators, and manage spare parts inventory.
Required profile
- N6 or equivalent qualification in electrical/instrumentation engineering (or related diploma) with at least three years’ relevant experience.
- Proven experience in a GMP‑regulated environment, preferably pharmaceutical or laboratory manufacturing.
- Valid wireman’s licence is an advantage.
Required skills
- Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix programming using Studio 5000 Logix Designer.
- Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE and ME (SCADA/HMI).
- PLC programming, fault finding and control system troubleshooting.
- Calibration of process instruments against traceable standards.
- Lock‑out/tag‑out, permit‑to‑work and other GMP safety procedures.
- Reading and interpreting P&ID and electrical schematics.
- Maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) work‑order processing.
