Maintenance Manager – Student Accommodation

About the role

Join one of South Africa's fastest‑growing student accommodation providers as a Maintenance Manager for a new flagship residence in Durban. You will lead a hands‑on team, manage contractors, and ensure world‑class facility standards in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the launch and ongoing maintenance of the flagship student residence.
• Lead and supervise a maintenance team of approximately 10 members.
• Plan, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance programmes.
• Manage building systems including plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry and general handyman services.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Control maintenance stock, inventory and departmental budgets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification; trade qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of maintenance experience in student accommodation, hospitality, hotels, residential property or similar environments.
• Proven experience managing maintenance teams (around 10 staff) and supervising contractors.
• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance planning and execution.
• Comprehensive building maintenance expertise across plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry and general repairs.
• Working knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Experience managing inventory, stock and departmental budgets.
