Maintenance Manager

About the role

Granor Passi Pty Ltd, a leading fruit processor in South Africa, is looking for a Maintenance Manager for its Polokwane factory. The role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team and external contractors to ensure smooth, efficient operation of all production machinery and services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain machines, refrigeration, electrical and service systems according to the company’s planned maintenance system.
• Develop and run preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose, repair safely and hand over clean, operational machines to production.
• Plan and execute projects for new product development, equipment upgrades and productivity initiatives within budget and schedule.
• Coordinate annual shutdowns and off‑season maintenance, ensuring proper planning, resourcing and completion.
• Monitor maintenance performance using KPIs such as equipment availability, MTBF and MTTR, and implement root‑cause corrective actions.

Required profile

• N5–N6 National Certificate in Engineering or a Degree/BTech in Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience as a Millwright in a food environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Valid driver’s licence and fluency in English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with refrigeration units, cold‑storage facilities and coal boilers.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, HACCP and FSSC 22000 food‑safety standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Project software.
