Maintenance Manager

About the role

Unitrade 745 (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the upkeep of its plant facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems operate reliably and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor maintenance procedures.
• Inspect facilities, identify issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance schedules and emergency breakdown response.
• Manage repairs, new installations and coordinate contractors and service providers.
• Schedule daily, monthly and shutdown work for artisans, ensuring spare parts availability.
• Control spares inventory, place orders and maintain accurate documentation (job cards, timesheets, requisitions).
• Monitor maintenance expenses, budget compliance and health & safety policies.
• Capture leave/absenteeism, create succession plans and develop technical staff.
• Ensure a safe work environment, housekeeping and 6S standards.
• Report performance metrics to senior management and monitor utility consumption.
• Maintain IATF compliance related to maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Matric and Technical Diploma or Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Minimum 10 years experience in a supervisory or managerial maintenance role.
• Proficiency with CAD and hands‑on experience with lathe, milling, drill press, broaching and CNC programming.
• Strong knowledge of PVC extrusion, PLCs, thermocouples, variable speed drives, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, bearings and fault‑finding on electrical and mechanical circuits.
• Familiarity with ISO 45000, ISO 14000 standards and the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (beneficial).
