Maintenance Fitter

About the role

The client is a leading South African manufacturer of tissue and hygiene products. They are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join the plant maintenance team, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and plant uptime through preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on production equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults promptly.
• Complete maintenance job cards accurately and within the required timeframes.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and root‑cause analysis of failures.
• Assist with shutdown maintenance and maintain workshop housekeeping standards.
• Support health and safety compliance and mentor apprentices where required.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Trade‑tested Fitter certification.
• Minimum N3 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• 3–4 years of plant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding ability and good communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime and be on standby when needed.
